The Manananas at Bothernation II
Botheration 2 was Duffy’s Bar on 5th June with Riotous Collective; The Manananas, Karyn A, Libby plus Peter Wyeth and Kevin Hewick

Celestar Coco’s Libby made her first ever solo appearance playing her own songs. She was both assured and vulnerable, the dark wit of her lyrics veering on the harrowing, coming from a very honest place. A revealing revelation as an exceptional songwriter. Her voice uncoils and unfolds with a terrific sense of melody. We’re kinda used to brilliant debuts ‘round here but this was rather extra special. (Do the funky chicken and the shake n’ vac and put your brain cells back….)

Karyn A K.Z. Aviani from Venus Attax is now just as well know for her solo stuff. She has absolute sincerity but some steeliness in the softness that draws you in, she’s a few solo shows on now and is well assured. She’s writing prolifically and the songs are flowing from her. For ‘Bubblegum’ she needed lyrics held up by non other than Em C who also was a great shaker of the collection glass bless her…
In an absolutely bold move with only 24 hours notice The Manananas decided that their 4th ever gig was to be full on bongo drums the lot acoustic unplugged style!
Their songs worked wonderfully in this approach and Gina-Rose seemed to project all the more. ‘Work Sucks’ had the room chanting along – Fabulous!
