The event
Take The Stage returns with a one off fundraiser for Sudan, raising funds for the charity Hope and Haven – supporting Sudanese refugees who are facing one of the biggest humanitarian crises on Earth.
The lineup features Honest Dave, Usaama, Nour and more acts to be confirmed.
This is an incredibly important and underreported tragedy occurring while we go about our daily lives.
Over 11 million Sudanese people have been forcibly displaced. The levels of suffering are unimaginable, and relentless. Mothers so malnourished they’re struggling to breastfeed their babies, fathers comforting children through their hunger pains whilst trying to ignore their own. Many of these women and children have been victims of sexual violence, and they have no access to psychological support or even medical care for their physical injuries.
Hope and Haven for Refugees Association are working 24/7 to provide food, clothing, education, medical care, and so much more to support these families, who, despite the dire circumstances they’re being forced to endure, are so full of hope and their community spirit is like nothing I’ve ever witnessed before. They support and give to one another, even when they have nothing. We are all so lucky that we’re in a position to be able to help. I have organised this event to raise money specifically to help re-open the children’s food centre in Al Malik refugee camp in Adrè, Chad. They provide 1 meal a day to 1,000 children every month. Right now the centre isn’t running because they haven’t received enough donations, so these children are without their one and only meal each day.
I know that if we all come together, we can get this centre up and running again and get these children fed. This is so much more than just providing food – it’s showing these beautiful people that the world has not forgotten them, and that we will never stop fighting for their rights to safety, humanitarian aid, and ultimately, freedom.
